Show Notes

Pretty pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing
You're fuckin' perfect to me!

FIRST VERSE:

As part of our #GayHistory, the conversion of AIDS is inevitable.  The 80's and 90's were filled with deaths within the gay community, all due to a virus that was deemed "a gay man's disease" and therefore, never fully researched or supported.  What was supposed to be an era of expression and acceptance became a time of sadness and loss.  HIV and AIDS defined gay culture for a long time, and that story is our story.  Thankfully, newer drugs and tons of research has made living with AIDS no longer a death sentence.  Join Tony and Marko as they journey through the community's struggle with the virus and the hope we have for a future cure.

CHORUS:

“Made a wrong turn, once or twice
Dug my way out, blood and fire
Bad decisions, that's alright
Welcome to my silly life”

Conversion therapy is a controversial topic, with no exciting points.  Many states have banned the practice, yet many queer lives have been deeply effected by its presence in our country.  This week, Marko and Tony sit down to talk about reparative (conversion) therapy, the lack of science to prove its success, and the lasting effects it's had on the LGBTQ community.

SECOND VERSE:

Huffington Post:

BRIDGE:

This week, Marko and Tony are joined at the Critable by season one guest, and conversion therapy participant, Chase Nelson (The Singing Scientist).  Chase (@singing_scientist) walks the guys through his journey of coming to terms with his sexuality, the decision to voluntarily seek clarity by way of reparative (conversion) therapy, and what life looks like on the other side.  Movies like 'Boy Erased' ring true for hundreds of thousands of LGBT people in our country, and we are so privileged to have Chase tell the story from his very own perspective.
